This session will define custody in a Wisconsin family law context and describe the statutory factors which inform legal custody determinations. It will also address common custody issues faced by fathers and provide resources to help navigate them.
Atty. Sir Williams is a seasoned higher education professional who, as a consultant with the Spivey Consulting Group (SCG), helps prospective law students successfully navigate the application process.
Before working in law school admissions, Atty. Williams served as a special prosecutor in the Dane County District Attorney’s Office after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Law School. As a law student, Sir completed a curricular concentration in family law and participated in the Family Law Project, working under the supervision of a licensed attorney to represent incarcerated Wisconsin residents in family law matters.

Father to Father: Navigating Custody, Advocacy, and Legalities

In this honest and practical workshop, Antonio shares his journey from teen fatherhood to intentional manhood while offering perspectives on parenting, custody arrangements, self-advocacy, and the legal challenges fathers often face. Through storytelling and father-to-father conversation, participants will explore how resilience, intentionality, and consistently showing up shape not only their children’s lives, but the men they become. Fathers will leave with greater confidence, clarity, and tools to remain present, informed, and engaged in their role as parents.
Antonio Hoye is an experienced administrator, family liaison, coach, mentor, and national and international public speaker with over 15 years in public education. His work centers on racial justice and youth empowerment, with deep expertise in designing and facilitating impactful training on student leadership, restorative practices, and youth development. Antonio is a trusted coach and counselor who supports the recruitment, growth, and retention of educators and leaders of color, helping schools build stronger, more inclusive communities. In addition to his leadership in education, he serves as a football and basketball coach.

Looking to strengthen your relationship with your child while connecting with other fathers? Focus on Fathers is a series of facilitated conversations designed specifically for dads. Participants will build parenting skills, strengthen their ability to advocate for themselves and their children, and gain practical tools for supporting their child’s social and emotional development.
Topics include communication, discipline, custody and legal challenges, father-child relationships, and navigating the realities of parenting. Fathers will also have the opportunity to connect with and learn from other dads facing similar experiences.
Adam Trunzo has spent a decade working with dads in rural Trempealeau County with the UW-Madison-Division of Extension. His work includes presentations in schools and childcare facilities, and teaching parenting virtually through the Focus on Fathers program and in-person in local jails and other justice system settings. He also coaches fathers 1:1 on how they can best support themselves and their families. He is also a father to two wonderful children who are 5 and 8 years old.
